Dog Day Afternoon, Night and Morning

I was off on Monday and was dreading it anyway because I HATE being off on Mondays. Being off on a Monday means that I have to look forward to working Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. That is too many days in a row when you work in retail.

My day originally started off good. I slept until about 10, got up, played with the dogs, drank coffee, and took Jacoby to the vet at 2:15pm. I took her to a new vet in Weymouth because the last vet (Whitman Animal Hospital) pissed me off when he tried to convince me to give Jacoby tranquilizers before I bring her back to see him again. He was this Indian asshole who shouldn't even be a vet. He shouldn't be putting dogs on tranquilizers because he doesn't know how to interact with them. He wasn't friendly towards her and then couldn't understand why she wouldn't let him look in her ears and why she growled at him every time he left the room and came back in. Jacoby LOVES everyone and does not growl at anyone. So, I figured she must know something that I don't know and we switched vets. So, I took her to South Coastal Animal Health, which I had researched online before I made the appointment. They all seemed to be well-experienced and well-educated vets so that is why we decided on them. The women there were extremely nice and friendly and Jacoby was so well-behaved the entire time (minus the tranquilizers...damn Indian asshole)! My bad day started with the news that Jacoby, once again, has two ear infections. The vet gave me ear wash (Indian asshole never thought of that) and ear drops. I have to bring her back in two weeks to see if she has made progress. If not, they think she may be allergic to her dog food and we will have to switch it up.

I get home from the vet and Charlyne came over with her ADORABLE 11 week old German Shepherd. His name is Verrick and he is soooo freakin adorable! He got along great with the other dogs, especially Jacoby, and he played with them for a little over an hour.

Now, the really fun part begins...at around 7:00 I was cooking burgers on the grill. All three dogs were outside playing and I ran back inside to get some warmth into my body since it was about 20 degrees outside. All of a sudden I hear Jolie barking UNCONTROLLABLY and she sounded like she was trying to rip someone to pieces. I open up the back door to find a stray dog trying to jump our fence. He was a very cute black and white border collie. Cindy and I didn't want him running in the street and getting hit by a car, so I grabbed a leash, hooked him, and brought him inside the house. We kept the our dogs locked out while we were looking for a tag on him or some kind of clue as to who he belonged to. He only had a Brockton license tag on and it didn't say his address. I called Animal Control and surprise, surprise...due to budget cuts, they close at 3pm every day. Next, I called Brockton Police and asked them what we should do. To our surprise, they told us we either need to keep him or let him go because there is nothing they can do. They didn't even have a database where they could look up the dog's (who I nicknamed Oreo) address.

There was NO way we could let him back out into the cold where he could freeze to death or get hit by a car. So, we decided to try to keep him for the night and call Animal Control in the morning. Oreo was a good dog, he was trained well, he could sit, roll over, speak, and the lil shit could jump over EVERYTHING!! We set gates up all around the house to keep him away from our dogs. He kept hurdling over the gates and then would hump our dogs uncontrollably. The name Oreo quickly was changed to Humpy. Needless to say, we had a very rough night. Cindy slept in one room with Humpy and I slept in the other room with our three dogs. The night was filled with crying, scatching on doors, and just complete crazyness. The two of us got about an hour of sleep.

I woke up the next morning and Humpy was still humping and hurdling over gates, chairs, trash barrels...anything we put in the lil shit's way. I called Animal Control and they came and got him. Humpy (real name is Jock) lives about a half mile away from us. They tried calling his house but there was no answer...the owner has possibly been humped to death. I have NEVER seen a dog hump as much as this dog did!!! Anyway, Humpy is hopefully safe and warm in his own home now.

That is all for now...my day off turned into a chaotic, crazy day that seems like it wasn't even a day off. I am looking forward to Sunday, when I can relax all day and spend some much needed alone time with Cindy and the dogs :)
